Paver pool decks: paver sealing starts at $1.25 per square foot with a $249 minimum. Travertine sealing, pool deck cleaning and pool cage washing are quoted after a free estimate.
What changes the price: square footage, travertine vs. pavers vs. concrete, stripping old sealer, and coping.
Travertine Pool Deck Sealing
Travertine pool decks in Florida should be sealed with a breathable, penetrating sealer, not a glossy film, so moisture can escape and the stone keeps its grip.
Florida contractors' guidance for resealing a travertine pool deck ranges from about every 1 to 3 years. Sun, pool chemicals or salt, and heavy splash-out shorten that. If water soaks in and darkens the stone instead of beading, the sealer is worn and it's time to reseal.
Finish choices: a natural-look penetrating sealer, a color-enhancing sealer, or a wet-look finish. Glossy or wet-look finishes can feel slicker when wet, so most pros use a penetrating sealer on travertine around a pool or add a slip-resistant additive. We'll talk through the finish before we start.
Stripping old sealer: when a peeling or cloudy film is failing, we strip it before a breathable sealer goes on. Coping gets the most splash and salt, so we check it first.
Pool Deck Cleaning Before Sealing
Algae, calcium and hard-water lines in the splash zone, sunscreen, and leaf tannin stains come off first, at lower pressure on stone and pavers. Never clean travertine with muriatic or other strong acid; it etches the stone permanently. Pavers must dry before sealing; for joint sand, see re-sanding paver joints on our paver sealing page.
Pool Cage and Screen Enclosure Washing
Pool cage screens should be soft washed at low pressure. A pressure washer can tear screen mesh and blow out the spline. We wash the frame, kick plates and door tracks, then rinse the deck last so runoff doesn't re-soil it.
White chalk on the frame is usually oxidation of the aluminum finish, not dirt. Washing reduces it.
Most Florida enclosure-cleaning guides suggest a full pool cage wash every 12 to 18 months inland and every 9 to 12 months near salt water or under heavy trees. Cage gutters and house gutters full of leaves? We clean those too.
Paver Pool Decks
If your pool deck is concrete pavers, see paver sealing for re-sanding, sealing and the wet-look finish. Paver sealing starts at $1.25 per square foot with a $249 minimum.
Patios and Lanais
Lanai floors and patios get the same algae and slip cleanup as the pool deck: mildew, dirt, and slick spots from shade and summer rain, washed at the right pressure for concrete, pavers, or stone.
Pool Decks, Water Restrictions and Storm Drains
Under the regional water shortage order through March 31, 2027, pressure washing is allowed before sealing and to remove mold and mildew. The Southwest Florida Water Management District's Modified Phase III order covers Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas and bans cosmetic or annual washing. Tampa Code Sec. 21-9 bars pollutants from entering street drains. This is information only.
Best Time to Seal in Tampa Bay
Florida's rainy season runs roughly June through September with afternoon storms, so October through May dry spells make sealing easier. Sealed stone needs to stay dry roughly 24 to 48 hours, so we plan around the forecast.

How often should a travertine pool deck be sealed in Florida?
Most Florida stone and paver pros recommend every 1 to 3 years, sooner for coping and salt pools. If water soaks in and darkens the stone instead of beading, it's time to reseal.
Will sealing make my pool deck slippery?
A penetrating sealer doesn't change how travertine feels. Glossy or wet-look finishes can be slicker when wet, so we'll talk through the finish before we start.
Can you pressure wash pool cage screens?
We soft wash them. High pressure can tear screen mesh, so screens and frames get low-pressure washing with a cleaning solution, then we rinse the deck.
